Head Coach
Desi Ammons, a Hohenwald, Tennessee native, serves as the Head Coach of Columbia State Baseball. A former Charger himself, Ammons played for Columbia State during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, helping lead the program to two conference championships and a trip to the 2014 NJCAA World Series.
In his first year as head coach, Ammons was voted TCCAA Baseball Coach of the Year, a testament to his immediate impact and leadership within the program.
He continued his playing career at Belmont University, competing in the 2015 and 2016 seasons before returning to Columbia State to begin his coaching career in the fall of 2016.
Assistant Coach
Augie Gallardo enters his first season as an assistant coach with Columbia State, bringing a strong background in both playing and coaching at the professional level.
He is a former professional pitcher with eight years of playing experience in the United States and Mexico. Throughout his career, Gallardo developed a reputation for his competitiveness and ability to mentor younger players.
He began his collegiate career at Mt. San Jacinto College (CA) before transferring to Eastern Michigan University, where he continued to excel on the mound. While still playing professionally, Gallardo also began coaching, gaining valuable experience that has grown into five years of experience at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.
Most recently, he served as the Pitching Coach for the Jackson Rockabillys of the Prospect League. While there he helped develop five league all-star pitchers, including the 2024 Reliever of the Year.
