Basketball Teams Dominate in Region 7 Matchups Against Pellissippi State
Columbia State's basketball teams shone brightly on Saturday as they hosted the Pellissippi State Panthers for a thrilling Region 7 showdown. Both the Lady Chargers and Chargers claimed decisive victories, maintaining their undefeated records in conference play.
The Lady Chargers secured a hard-fought 78-70 win, improving to 3-0 in the Region 7 standings. Sophomore Ansley Burleson led the charge with a stellar all-around performance, posting 22 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. Jacie Scott contributed a dynamic 16 points, 10 assists, and 4 steals, while Lily Melton added 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tennely Dowty also made a significant impact with 11 points and 3 rebounds, while Jacqueline Hardrick and Sanai Thomas chipped in with 6 points each.
In the men's game, the #24 Chargers dominated the Panthers with a commanding 92-52 victory, also advancing to 3-0 in conference play. Freshman Taveon Comage had a breakout night, scoring a career-high 24 points. Jamison Glass added 14 points, while Emanuel Allen, Mahki Wright, and Rob Brisbon each tallied 10 points to round out a balanced offensive attack.
