Lady Chargers Struggle in Opening Games at Tiger Fest Tourney
The Columbia State Lady Chargers Softball team traveled to Mississippi to compete in the Tiger Fest Tournament at Northeast Mississippi College. In a tough start to the tournament, the team lost its first two games.
In game one, the Chargers were held scoreless in a 10-0 loss, managing just four hits from Jayla Davenport, Abigail Brown, Samantha Staggs, and Jaelyn Luke. Samantha Staggs took the loss in the circle, going 4 innings while allowing 14 hits, 10 runs (8 earned), along with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Game two saw the Chargers fall 8-0, with Davenport recording the only two hits of the contest. Jaylee Warren got the loss after pitching 4.2 innings, giving up 7 hits, 8 runs (7 earned), and 4 walks.
