Lady Chargers Sweep Motlow State in TCCAA Doubleheader
The Lady Chargers hit the road on Wednesday for a key TCCAA matchup against Motlow State and came away with a doubleheader sweep, winning 3-2 and 6-4. The victories move the Lady Chargers to 7-7 in conference play and 8-19 overall.
Game One Recap In a tightly contested opener, the Lady Chargers edged out Motlow State 3-2, thanks to a standout performance from Jayla Davenport. Davenport was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, collecting two RBIs, a double, a triple, and scoring one run. Mycah Price and Chloe West also contributed significantly, each going 2-for-3, with West scoring two runs. Bella Birdsong and Abigail Brown added a hit apiece, with Birdsong driving in a run.
On the mound, Christina Juarez delivered a stellar outing, earning the complete-game victory. She pitched seven innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out two.
Game Two Recap The Lady Chargers carried their momentum into game two, securing a 6-4 win. Jayla Davenport remained red-hot at the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring three runs. Jaylee Warren added to the offensive effort with a 2-for-3 performance. Abigail Brown and Madison Arel each had a hit and an RBI, while Bella Birdsong and Mycah Price also chipped in with hits. Reagan Burleson contributed with an RBI.
Jaylee Warren took the circle for the Lady Chargers and pitched a complete game to earn the win. She allowed eight hits but limited the damage to just one earned run while striking out two over seven innings.
The Lady Chargers will look to keep the momentum going as they return home to host No. 15 Chattanooga State in another TCCAA doubleheader on Friday, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
