Chargers Open Baseball Season with Split Against Northeast Mississippi
After weather delays on Friday, the Columbia State Chargers kicked off their baseball season on a warm and sunny Sunday at Dave Hall Field, hosting the Northeast Mississippi Tigers for a doubleheader. The Chargers split the opener, securing a thrilling 7-6 walk-off victory in game one before falling 7-3 in game two.
In the opener, Jay Watson earned the win with two innings of relief, allowing two hits and one run while striking out two. At the plate, Clint Seymore led the offense, going 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs, and an RBI. Camden Vaughn added power, going 1-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs, and two walks.
Game two saw the Chargers struggle offensively, managing just four hits. Clint Seymore remained consistent, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Cade Hitson and Arturo Rodriguez each contributed a hit. Adam Jamison took the loss on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing three runs with four walks and three strikeouts.
The Chargers hit the road on Tuesday, February 4, for a doubleheader at Northwest Mississippi.
