Chargers Drop Doubleheader at Northwest Mississippi
The Chargers Baseball team traveled to Northwest Mississippi Community College but came up short in both games, falling 9-7 in game one and 16-6 in game two.
Despite tallying 12 hits in the opener, the Chargers couldn't convert enough runs. Sophomore Hutson Miles had a strong performance at the plate, going 4-for-6, while Cade Hitson contributed with a 2-for-5 outing and three RBIs. Thomas Lankford took the loss on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing four hits and two runs, with four walks and one strikeout.
In game two, defensive errors proved costly for the Chargers. Anthony Serrano took the loss, pitching three innings and allowing six runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out five. John Carter and Michael McClellan each drove in two runs, but the Chargers managed only six hits as a team.
Now 1-3 on the season, Columbia State looks to bounce back as they travel to Chipola College on Friday, Feb. 7, for matchups against Southern Union and Chipola College. Stay up to date with the Chargers' schedule and scores at: Columbia State Baseball Schedule.
