Chargers Dominate Snead State with 18-8 Victory in Seven Innings
On Tuesday, the Chargers Baseball team traveled to Boaz, Alabama, to take on Snead State in a nine-inning matchup. However, the Chargers wrapped up their victory early, clinching an 18-8 win in just seven innings.
After a scoreless first inning, the Chargers' bats came alive, scoring in every subsequent frame. They exploded for six runs in the second inning and capped the game with a five-run seventh inning, finishing with 16 hits overall.
Bo Culver led the offensive charge, going 2-for-5 with a grand slam, a double, two runs scored, five RBIs, and a walk. Hutson Miles contributed with a 2-for-6 performance, tallying two runs, two RBIs, and a double. Camden Vaughn added to the onslaught, going 3-for-5 with a run, four RBIs, and a double.
John Carter went 2-for-5, adding a run, an RBI, and a double, while Brady Hendrix scored twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk. Derek Valentin-Luciano had an impressive outing, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBIs, two walks, and a double. Michael McClellan reached base five times, going 2-for-2 with three runs, an RBI, and drawing three walks. Jackson Riedling and Tyler Jenkins also contributed, with Riedling going 1-for-1 with a run and Jenkins finishing 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Thomas Lankford secured the win on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing just one hit and two earned runs.
The victory brings the Chargers to a 10-12 record as they prepare for their TCCAA weekend series against Jackson State at Dave Hall Field. The series kicks off with a nine-inning game on Friday, March 7, at 2 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
