Chargers Baseball Swept by Chattanooga State in TCCAA Series
The Chargers Baseball team hit the road for a three-game TCCAA series against Chattanooga State but came up short in all three matchups against the Tigers. Despite strong efforts on the field, the Chargers were unable to secure a victory over the weekend.
Game 1: Chargers Fall 3-12
The series opener on Friday saw the Chargers struggle against Chattanooga State, falling 12-3. The Chargers collected eight hits in the game, with standout performances from Hutson Miles, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, and Clint Seymore, who also went 1-for-3 while driving in two runs. Tyler Jenkins (1-for-3) and Arturo Rodriguez (1 hit, 1 RBI) contributed offensively, while Camden Vaughn, Cade Hitson, Brady Hendrix, and Derek Valentin-Luciano each added a hit. On the mound, Jake Cardin took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing ten hits, four earned runs, and recording no strikeouts.
Game 2: Chargers Battle but Fall 2-1
Saturday's first game was a close battle, with Chattanooga State edging out the Chargers 2-1. The Chargers' offense struggled, managing just four hits in the game, with Hutson Miles, Tyler Jenkins, Arturo Rodriguez, and Camden Vaughn each collecting one. The team's lone run came on a wild pitch. Adam Jamison delivered a solid performance on the mound but took the loss, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing six hits, two earned runs, and striking out four.
Game 3: Chargers Come Up Just Short in 3-2 Loss
The final game of the series was another tightly contested matchup, but the Chargers ultimately fell 3-2. Clint Seymore led the team at the plate, going 2-for-4. Hutson Miles, Bo Culver, Camden Vaughn, and Kaito Muto each added a hit, while Brady Hendrix and Anthony Pastrana contributed an RBI apiece. On the mound, Dylan Alonso put in a strong effort, pitching six innings without allowing a hit, surrendering two earned runs, and striking out seven. Despite his impressive performance, he took the loss.
The Chargers now hold an 18-16 overall record and an 11-6 mark in TCCAA play. They will look to bounce back this weekend as they return home to host Roane State at Dave Hall Field.
